An essay

How difficult it is to start a new picture, when you have not a single idea on what it should be about! You look at that perfectly white piece of paper, while the emptiness in your head refuses to give birth to any thought, deserted as the sands of Sahara. Or there could be quite another situation. Your hand begins moving easily but it stops a moment later when you realize it. The strokes then must be analyzed and developed into something acceptable.
Some great artists, of course, are capable of expressing themselves freely, sometimes even better than in the real life. Their soul, divided into pieces and embodied in their pictures, enters the eternity. However, such cases are rather rare. More usual is the situation when the future picture's idea sprouts up from an invisibly small seed. And while it is growing you may feel all the pleasures of being pregnant.
